Job summary

RED Engineering Design, a leading M&E consultancy in the UK, seeks an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer (RED Specialist Services) to lead major projects from London or Newcastle. You will oversee electrical design and coordination for multiple building services, interfacing with clients and contractors to ensure robust, compliant solutions.

The role requires Chartered status or active progression, extensive design experience across building types, and strong leadership,

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or degree in appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience
• MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate experience or equivalent
• Working towards Chartered Eng status
• Significant experience of specification design for several building types
• Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
• Good understanding of BS standards/UK Regulations/Codes
• Ability to prioritise own workload
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Managerial skills
• Presentation skills
• Support the delivery of projects per RED Project Delivery Process

Responsibilities

• Running large projects and taking ownership of delivery
• Client-facing design and coordination of building services
• Develops specifications for controls, instruments, and operating systems
• Undertakes surveys and dilapidation reports for existing installations
• Ensures work meets functional specs and customer requirements
• Leads coordination of engineering services across projects
• Represents RED at technical meetings with clients and contractors
• Maintains compliance with UK standards and safety regulations
• Maintains holistic view in applying engineering concepts
• Supports project management, QA/QC, and financial tracking
