Job summary

RED Engineering Design is seeking a fully experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team, based in London or Newcastle. The role focuses on leading large projects, developing and coordinating electrical building services, and liaising with clients and contractors to ensure robust, compliant solutions.

You will drive design concepts, specify controls and operating systems, and supervise surveys and reports while upholding health and safety standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng or degree in appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience
• MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate experience or equivalent
• Working towards Chartered Eng status
• Significant experience of specification design for several building types
• Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software

Responsibilities

• Running of large projects and client liaison
• Develops and coordinates electrical/MEP design for building services
• Specifies controls, instruments and operating systems for building services
• Surveys and dilapidation reports on existing installations
• Ensures designs meet standards and customer requirements
• Represents company at technical meetings with clients and contractors
• Leads coordination of engineering services
• Takes holistic view in selection and application of engineering concepts
