Job summary

The Environment Partnership is seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead the delivery of large, strategically important environmental projects. You will guide governance, planning, risk management, client engagement and commercial performance while developing colleagues and delivering high-quality work.

You will mentor teams, manage complex risks, and coordinate multidisciplinary groups to ensure projects are well planned, efficient and delivered on time and budget.

Qualifications

• Degree or recognised qualification in ecology, environmental science, project management, or related discipline.
• Experience managing complex projects, preferably in ecology, planning or environmental consultancy.
• Understanding of project governance, reporting, risk management and commercial delivery.
• Experience creating or using Power BI reports or similar project reporting tools.
• Confident working with clients and stakeholders in complex or sensitive situations.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation and planning processes, or ability to apply related knowledge quickly.
• Strong communication and decision-making to support quality and outcomes.
• Supportive leadership style and commitment to mentoring teammates.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from planning through delivery.
• Set up and oversee project governance, controls, reporting and decision making.
• Manage project finances, forecasting, fee recovery, profitability and commercial risk.
• Act as senior client contact with partners, landowners and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve complex risks and delivery challenges.
• Coordinate internal and external teams to ensure well-planned, efficient work.
• Mentor colleagues and promote high standards across the team.
