Job Title: Principal Ecologist
Location: South Wales
Salary: £DOE

Are you an experienced Principal or Associate Ecologist looking to take your career to the next level?

Join a dynamic team working on some of the most exciting and impactful ecological projects in the UK. From energy generation and historic building restoration to biodiversity enhancement and habitat surveys, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects across diverse habitats – from Scotland’s uplands to central London.

As a Principal or Associate Ecologist, you’ll lead surveys, manage projects, and write high-quality reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and protected species surveys. You’ll also mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver ecological surveys and assessments
  • Prepare tender responses and fee proposals
  • Manage projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Mentor and support junior staff
  • Contribute to business growth and development
Requirements
  • A degree in Ecology or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in ecological consultancy with a strong understanding of UK wildlife and conservation legislation
  • Experience in protected species surveys and report writing (e.g., EcIA, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals)
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to engage with clients
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK (expenses covered)
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours, particularly during bat survey season
