Principal Ecologist

Competitive salary
UK

Allen & York are excited to be working with a leading global environmental consultancy, supporting clients and regulators across the world to mitigate environmental impacts.

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Principal Ecologist to join the terrestrial ecology division, delivering a range of projects for high-profile clients across the UK.

The successful candidate will work closely with the management team and the wider terrestrial ecology team, influencing and shaping current work streams and expanding the current customer base across the UK.

You’ll need to have extensive experience of undertaking survey work including leading protected species surveys and mitigation projects, with proven experience of expanding and managing a terrestrial ecology portfolio within a consultancy setting and to represent it to external stakeholders.

With up-to-date knowledge of EU and UK legislation pertaining to ecology and environmental issues, as well as Ecological Impact Assessments and planning regulations, you’ll have experience of providing authoritative ecological advice and innovative mitigation solutions/enhancement considerations across a range of sites and schemes, with varying levels of environmental and ecological sensitivities.

An excellent communicator, you’ll enjoy working collaboratively and supporting the development/management of junior ecologists.

Experience of leading and motivating a team together with a proven work winning track record, with experience of preparing bids and tenders and generating new business opportunities would be advantageous to this role.

In return for your specialist skills and experience, you’ll receive a competitive salary and benefits package, together with the opportunity to grow your career with a consultancy which prides itself in creating a working environment that values and recognises each individual.
