Your new company

Our client is an environmental consultancy that provides a wide range of ecological services across the UK. They work on various projects with regular clients in the residential and commercial sectors. They are looking for ecologists at various skill levels for their offices in Manchester, West Devon, and the East Midlands.

Your new role

1. Mentor and manage junior ecologists.
2. Client & project management.
3. Undertake ecological surveys and assessments, including UKHab and protected species surveys, ecological impact assessments, etc.
4. Provide ecological advice and support to clients and internal teams.
5. Manage and deliver ecological projects, including producing technical reports and ecological management plans.
6. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
7. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines.

What you'll need to succeed

1. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, sometimes in remote locations, staying away when required and working unsociable hours.
2. The ability to plan and deliver habitat and protected species surveys/reports (PEA, UK Habs, BNG assessments, bats, badger, water vole, etc.).
3. Full UK driving licence and use of a car.
4. Good communication skills, both internally and with clients.
5. Good report writing skills.
6. Experience preparing fee proposals.
7. Experience undertaking risk assessments.
8. Experience managing simple projects.
9. Ability to manage and analyze data.
10. Experience using GIS Mapping.

Desirable

1. Ability to mentor Junior Ecologists/Ecologists.
2. Experience allocating projects to staff and managing workload.
3. Manage complex projects.
4. Understanding the financial needs of the company.
5. Prepare fee proposals/tenders.
6. Undertake complex risk assessments.
