Job summary

Taylor Hopkinson Limited is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to act as the Principal Designer resource for the client's portfolio. You will serve as the interface with other Principal Designers, collaborate with the Client's Engineering team and Project Managers, and ensure shared procedures are followed across multiple projects.

You will chair regular Principal Designer meetings, oversee design duties under CDM, and lead Health and Safety File development and risk closure for portfolio

Responsibilities

• Review / familiarize with existing Client's CDM procedures, especially any related to the role of Principal Designer and follow these procedures.
• Take portfolio ownership of Client's Principal Designer related procedures and documentation
• Ensure all (Internal and External) Designers are complying with their duties under CDM for the projects in the portfolio.
• Chair regular Principal Designer meetings for the projects within the portfolio
• Act as Point of Interface with all other Principal Designers
• Assist Client in ensuring acceptable Temporary works design process
• Assist Client on Pre Construction Information development and Construction Phase Plan review.
• Chair site specific HAZARD workshops and proactively work with people to close actions.
• Manage or assist with Management of Design Change during construction phase.
• Take the lead on Health and Safety File development and acceptance for portfolio projects
• Ensure all relevant residual risks and other information from design phase that needs to be detailed in the relevant Health and Safety File(s).
• Monthly report with KPIs.
• Work closely with Client's site supervisors to ensure construction is as per the accepted design.
• Escalate / Report any site issues to CDM Manager for assistance

Job description

Responsibilities:

There is the requirement for an experienced Principal Designer to be the Principal Designer resource for the client's portfolio.

The experienced PD resource will also provide a Point of Interface from all the Principal Designers associated with the other construction projects. This will involve regular interactions with all of the individual Principal Designers, ensuring sufficient information is being exchanged.

They shall work closely with the Client's Engineering department and Project Managers, and Principal Designers from other projects on the Hub.

The following are the tasks that the resource will undertake:
