Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Principal Psychologist to lead psychology staff across three Salford CMHTs. The role includes clinical leadership, expert assessments, and driving service development within community mental health services.

The postholder will supervise junior staff, provide training, and support MDT working to ensure high-quality care for service users and carers. Accreditation in one core therapy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of further post qualification training within psychological therapies (e.g., CAT, CBT, EMDR etc.).
• Doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology or accredited psychological therapist.
• Demonstrable significant post-qualification experience of specialist psychological work with adults with complex needs within a secondary care setting and MDT.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert psychological assessment, formulation, consultation, and intervention.
• Maintain oversight of the work of junior psychologists/psychological therapists and Wellbeing Practitioners across CMHTs.
• Lead service development and drive transformation of community mental health services.
• Provide clinical supervision and training sessions as needed.
