We have a fantastic opportunity for a leadership role in our psychology team, with clinical expertise in neuropsychology. Part time hours would also be considered depending on the candidate.
A qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (knowledge) is necessary for this role, if the successful applicant does not already have this, there would be support to complete this.
The post holder will have the autonomy to develop the role of psychology across the community pathway, whilst having the strong support of Clinical Psychologists already in the specialism, including a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Principal Clinical Psychologists and Senior Clinical Psychologists. There is a supportive and encouraging culture within the service, promoting innovation and personal and professional development.
We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate courses in Leeds and Sheffield.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will take on the clinical leadership of the neuropsychological provision across Wakefield. The role will support the complexity of diagnosis for the growing number of referrals of younger people with suspected dementia, as well as providing specialist neuropsychological assessment to inform the diagnostic pathway for anyone aged 18 and over. The post holder will need specialist neuropsychological skills to support development of teaching, training, consultation and supervision to colleagues. The role will have a leadership function, considering the psychological support needs for people with dementia, including formulation and specific post diagnostic support. They will liaise closely with colleagues in the third sector to consider how we can strategically work together to continue meeting the needs of people with dementia and their families. The role will also support the development of a care home pathway alongside other psychology colleagues in the services. There will also be line management responsibilities within the psychology team.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients as part of the multidisciplinary team within the service.
The post holder will provide psychological assessments and interventions to clients within the service
The post holder will provide psychological assessment and interventions in keeping with evidence based practice working autonomously within the professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the Trusts policies and procedures.
The post holder will be involved with service development, research and audit in line with the service priorities
The post holder will be expected to supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
The post holder will work in collaboration with professionals, carers and service users offering advice, consultation and supervision as appropriate.
