Overview

Principal Civil / Structural Engineer – Surbiton KT5

£60k-£75k

Dynamic and creative design consultancy based in Surbiton requires an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer to join their team. Ideally you will have buildings and bridges experience as well as other structures. The firm work on a variety of civil / structural infrastructure projects including substation designs and projects in the power and energy sector.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings, site visits and deal with clients with excellent communication and hands-on design work.
• Lead projects, mentor staff and issue fee bids.
• Participate in design of substations, transformer foundations, gantries, equipment plinths and cable management platforms.
• Contribute to large new footbridges over railways at stations, highways over rail bridges, lineside services and structures, platform extensions, station refurbishments, substation design, HV cable route design and renewables schemes.
• Engage in embankment and cutting works, depot buildings and structures; be experienced in both steel and concrete.
• Some survey work involved and occasional unsociable hours.

Qualifications / Experience

• Experience of buildings and bridges; able to work on a variety of civil / structural infrastructure projects.
• Strong capability in both steel and concrete design.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team; collaboration is important.
• Experience of leading projects, mentoring staff and issuing fee bids.
• Experience in substation design, transformer foundations, and related structures; willing to engage in survey work.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK.
• Willing to work occasional unsociable hours.
