Job summary

Brandon James Limited in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of diverse civil infrastructure projects for residential, commercial and industrial developments.

You will mentor junior engineers, liaise with clients and authorities, ensure compliance with UK standards and deadlines, and use FLOW and Civil 3D to produce robust drainage and highway schemes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years’ post-qualification experience working within a UK civil engineering design consultancy.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Advanced proficiency in FLOW drainage modelling software and Civil 3D is essential.
• Strong experience delivering UK civil engineering infrastructure designs, including drainage and highways.
• Proven experience working in a similar multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Thorough understanding of UK design standards, drainage regulations and approval processes.
• Excellent communication, technical leadership and project management skills.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (ICE) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure projects from concept through to completion.
• Produce and review drainage strategies, external works designs and highways layouts.
• Undertake detailed drainage modelling using FLOW software.
• Utilise Civil 3D to develop and coordinate engineering designs.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and other design professionals.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Ensure projects are delivered to relevant UK design standards, regulations and deadlines.
