Job summary

Strata Consulting is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join its infrastructure team in the Portsmouth area. You will work on both public and private sector projects from development feasibility through to detailed highway design, including drainage and S278/S38 schemes.

The role requires at least 5 years of consultancy experience, a Civil Engineering degree or HND, and proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D drainage tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years' consultancy experience.
• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Drainage Design experience including SuDS.
• Experience with drainage software (InfoDrainage/Causeway/MicroDrainage).
• Experience in preparation of technical reports.
• Civil Engineering project management including drainage, external works and highways.
• Experience in client management and line management desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.
• Drainage designs in line with Sewers for Adoption and SuDS Manual.
• Develop on- and off-site highway features per standards.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
• Line management including appraisals, training and performance of juniors.

Our client was founded nearly 30 years ago and is looking to expand their Portsmouth office. They are looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to join their infrastructure team. You can expect to work on both the public and private sectors, from development feasibility through to detailed highway design. The role

• Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes
• Drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations and the SuDS Manual
• On and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets
• Mentoring and training of junior staff
• Line management experience including undertaking of appraisals, identification of training and ensuring performance of junior team members

What you need to succeed

• A minimum of 5+ years' of consultancy experience
• A degree or HND in Civil Engineering
• Drainage Design experience including SuDS
• Experienced user of InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, or MicroDrainage
• Experienced in the preparation of technical reports
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software
• Civil Engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works and highways elements
• Experience in client management, line management and preparation of fee proposals is desirable.
