Job summary

Strata Consulting in the heart of Southwest Hampshire is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its growing multidisciplinary design team. The role focuses on highways and drainage design for complex mixed-use and major residential/commercial projects up to £500m, with hybrid/flexible working and in-house mentorship.

You will design highways per Section 38/278, deliver drainage schemes including S104/S98, and produce external works. Strong client liaison and commitment to Chartered status are expected.

Qualifications

• HND/C in Civil Engineering (a degree in Civil Engineering desirable).
• Experience in AutoCAD, Microdrainage, Civil 3D & SuDS.
• A desire to achieve Chartered status.
• Experience in highway and drainage design.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Designing preliminary and detailed highways in line with Section 38 and Section 278 of the Highways Act.
• Delivering strategic and detailed drainage designs (including S104/S98 Water Act), as well as foul pumping stations, SUDS, flow control structures, and balancing facilities.
• Producing residential and commercial external works designs, including earthworks assessments.
• Preparing technical reports, design assessments, planning statements, and fee proposals.
• Supporting project delivery from proposal through to practical completion, while ensuring quality, cost, and timeline objectives are being met.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, and coordinating with other disciplines.
• Ensuring full compliance with all relevant standards, policies, and legislation (including CDM Regulations and UK Building Regulations).

The role
