Job summary

Strata Consulting in Cardiff is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead civil and infrastructure design projects from the Cardiff office. You will manage workloads, mentor team members and liaise with clients to confirm scope and deliverables.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status (ICE) or equivalent, and 5+ years of experience. Hybrid/flexible working and a strong benefits package are on offer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Civil Engineering.
• Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK and high standard of written English.

Responsibilities

• Manage your project workload to achieve programmed deadlines.
• Support other team members in delivering items within your ability.
• Design of private drainage networks.
• Develop solutions for sectional applications (S106, S185, S278, EA).
• Design drainage using Micro Drainage or PDS/Causeway flow software.
• Prepare layouts in AutoCAD with support of technicians.
• Prepare FRAs, preplanning advice and planning documentation.
• Advise junior staff and develop solutions with the team.
• Take ownership of projects and support delivery of civil/infrastructure designs.
• Design civil engineering schemes and review/approve designs.
• Liaise with clients to confirm project scope and deliverables.
• Carry out inspections, site surveys and assessments and prepare reports.
• Prepare tenders and fee proposals.
• Develop new and existing client relationships.

The role:

• Managing your project workload to achieve programmed deadlines
• Supporting other team members in the delivery of items within your ability
• Design of private drainage networks
• Desired - Development of solutions for sectional applications, including S106, S185, S278 and EA applications
• Design of drainage using Micro Drainage or PDS/Causeway flow software

What you need to succeed:
