Job summary

Bimplus is seeking a Principal Civil Design Engineer in Bridgend, South Wales, to lead civil engineering design on major UK water and infrastructure projects. You will mentor junior staff and guide multidisciplinary teams through concept to construction while ensuring practical, buildable solutions.

The role requires extensive design experience, Eurocode knowledge and strong client/stakeholder engagement, with a clear path to chartership and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Significant civil engineering design experience.
• Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and UK standards.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Commercial awareness with budgets and resources.
• Knowledge of BIM-led design processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering design packages.
• Manage programmes, resources and budgets for projects.
• Produce and review design calculations, drawings and reports.
• Support BIM-led delivery and modern engineering practices.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineers.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with standards, quality and HSEQ procedures.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery.
