Job summary

Pick Everard is seeking a Principal Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Nottingham team with flexibility for other locations. You will lead multi-disciplinary portfolios, deliver designs and calculations, and mentor junior staff while ensuring projects meet scope, time, and budget.

We value Chartered engineers with strong UK Building Regulations knowledge, HVAC expertise, and proficiency in IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and Revit MEP.

Qualifications

  • HND/Degree in Building Services Engineering (Mechanical) or related discipline or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or IEng, or working towards this status
  • Significant experience in mechanical building services/HVAC design, including domestic water services, ventilation, heating, and cooling

Responsibilities

  • Deliver portfolios of work across private and public sectors, managing various contracts
  • Prepare designs, feasibility studies, technical reports, and contract documents
  • Carry out building analysis and provide system design calculations
  • Liaise with Clients and Contractors
  • Ensure projects are delivered accurately and on time
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and graduates
  • Comply with Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures

We are looking to appoint a Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) to be based in the Nottingham Office but flexibility is allowed for work within another location.


There will be a wide, varied workload and the role will focus on delivering portfolios of work across the private and public sector where you will ensure projects are delivered to the right scope of time, quality and budget.

Your core responsibilities will include:


  • Delivering portfolios of work across both the private and public sector, managing various contracts throughout.

  • Preparing designs, feasibility studies, technical reports, and contract documents.

  • Carrying out building analysis and providing system design calculations.

  • Liaising directly with Clients and Contractors.

  • Ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on time.

  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and graduate trainees.

  • Compliance with Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

About You

Our ideal Principal Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) must have:



  • HND/Degree in Building Services Engineering (Mechanical) or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards this status.

  • Significant experience in mechanical building services/HVAC design, including domestic water services, ventilation, heating, and cooling.

  • Strong working knowledge of IES, Hevacomp, and AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is desirable.

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including UK Building Regulations, as well as Low/Zero Carbon Technologies and BREEAM.

  • In-depth understanding of construction industry design processes and procurement arrangements.

  • Proven design skills across a range of sectors.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and self-motivated approach.

  • Experience in resource planning and management.

  • Business development experience and the ability to build strong client relationships.
