About the role

At ICW, confidence is built through expertise, leadership and trusted relationships. As a Principal Building Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of compliance, quality and consistency across our Building Control and Warranty operations. As a senior member of the team, you will combine technical expertise with leadership, coaching and mentoring, helping colleagues develop their knowledge, skills and professional competence while promoting a collaborative, high-performing culture across the business.

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact through both your own professional expertise and your ability to support and develop others.

Technical expertise and leadership experience matter. So does how you work. We're looking for people who are Kind, Principled and Tenacious in everything they do.

What you’ll be doing

As a Principal Building Inspector, you will provide technical leadership and support across a diverse portfolio of projects while helping to develop and coordinate regional inspection teams. Working closely with surveyors, managers, developers and other stakeholders, you will:

  • Act as a key technical contact on complex Building Regulation and warranty matters, providing expert guidance and support to clients and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with management teams across the Group, helping to drive standardisation, continuous improvement and a one-team approach.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, builders and clients, delivering a responsive, professional and solution-focused service.
  • Ensure robust quality and compliance standards are maintained, supporting internal procedures, regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
  • Manage your workload effectively while supporting others, ensuring service levels, quality standards and business objectives are achieved.

    • Developers, clients and colleagues trust your judgement because your advice is practical, consistent and commercially aware. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships and help stakeholders find solutions while maintaining compliance and professional standards.
  • Support one another to succeed
    • You invest time in developing others, providing coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback. You recognise that strong teams achieve better outcomes, and you create an environment where colleagues feel supported to learn and grow.

Underpinning these are our values:

  • Kind – we treat people with respect, listen carefully and create an environment where colleagues and clients feel supported.
