Job summary

Capco is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer in London (Hybrid) to enrich our Technology & Engineering practice. You will help build scalable Java backend services, design enterprise APIs, and drive cloud-native architecture decisions across financial services projects.

You will work with AWS, microservices, Kafka, and CI/CD pipelines, contributing to testing, troubleshooting and AI-enabled development workflows with responsible review.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Java 11/17+ and Spring Boot for large-scale backend systems.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices and CQRS.
• Proven experience on AWS, CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and Kafka.
• Experience with automated testing and distributed systems troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver scalable backend services using Java 11/17+ and microservices.
• Design APIs, implement cloud-native deployment and architecture on AWS.
• Develop robust automated test coverage across multiple layers.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs and engineers in agile teams to deliver distributed systems.
• Utilize approved AI tools and workflows with human-in-the-loop review.
