Job summary

Capco is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our Edinburgh-based engineering team. You will build scalable backend services in Java, design APIs and microservices, and work across AWS with modern deployment practices.

You will collaborate with clients, product managers and fellow engineers in an agile environment, with strong emphasis on learning, growth and delivering impact for financial services and energy domains.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
• Experience deploying solutions into cloud environments (AWS)
• Understanding of microservices, event-driven design, and cloud-native architecture
• Strong grasp of SQL and NoSQL databases
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver scalable backend services using Java (11, 17+)
• Design and implement APIs and microservices for enterprise systems
• Work across cloud platforms, particularly AWS, using best practice deployment techniques
• Contribute to architecture discussions and solution design
• Collaborate in agile teams alongside clients, product managers, and other engineers
