Job summary

Kinetech seeks a Lead/Principal Backend Engineer to shape architecture and lead technical delivery in a hybrid setup with Central London participation. You will stay hands-on in core backend work while guiding teams across API design, integrations, and event-driven systems, using C#/.NET, Python and Azure.

You’ll influence architectural direction, collaborate with stakeholders, and help advance testing, standards and AI-enabled development across the platform.

Qualifications

• Senior/Lead/Principal level with deep hands-on expertise in C#/.NET or Python.
• Experience across APIs, integrations and event-driven architectures.
• Experience integrating enterprise platforms and internal/third-party apps.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, data modelling and cloud engineering.
• Ability to take a problem from investigation to hands-on delivery.
• Ability to make scalable and maintainable technical decisions.
• Excellent communication with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience embedding AI into engineering workflows responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Remain hands-on with code while providing technical direction across backend engineering.
• Own and evolve architecture connecting core platforms, internal apps and external services.
• Design and deliver APIs, integrations, messaging and event-driven solutions.
• Review existing architecture and proposed designs, guiding delivery.
• Work with C#/.NET, Python and Azure and cloud-based integrations.
• Support engineers and improve technical standards, testing and practices.
• Apply AI-augmented development to improve quality, speed and delivery.
