Role description:

As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record of leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects, especially in the Design and Build Sector.

As part of our Environmental team, you'll help improve quality of life. Your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

You will work on diverse projects including energy, infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and mixed-use developments for both private and public clients, as well as smaller projects requiring agility. We promote technical excellence, digital innovation, and a collaborative environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading coordination and delivery of planning/environmental work by multidisciplinary teams, influencing project development and outcomes with understanding of the D&B process.
  • Business development, creating project opportunities, and leading project delivery to expand our portfolio in the D&B Sector and related upstream work.
  • Raising awareness of our services, winning opportunities, and building contacts.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders, leading by example and creating cross-selling opportunities.
  • Managing projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and safety performance.
  • Collaborating with Arcadis colleagues worldwide.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of environmental and consenting processes, EIA practices, case law, and sustainability principles.

  • Negotiation and consulting experience with authorities and stakeholders.
  • Commercial skills including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree, preferably with chartered status or working towards it.
  • Flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach.
