Role description:

Our Environmental Planning team is seeking a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record in leading environmental and consenting aspects of projects, especially in the Design and Build Sector.

As part of our Environmental team, you'll work on projects involving protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise, in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.

We aim to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations, addressing challenges like climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss.

You will manage diverse projects including energy, infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and mixed-use developments for private and public clients, promoting technical excellence and digital innovation.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Leading coordination and delivery of planning/environmental work by multidisciplinary teams, influencing project development, and ensuring optimal outcomes with an understanding of the D&B process.
  • Business development, creating project opportunities, and leading project delivery in the D&B Sector and upstream environmental work.
  • Raising awareness of our services, winning new opportunities, and building contacts.
  • Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and consultees, and managing project performance across technical, quality, commercial, and safety aspects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Arcadis globally.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of environmental and consenting processes, including EIA practices, case law, and sustainability principles.
  • Experience working with contractors and influencing sustainability through design.
  • Experience across various project types, with strong report writing, presentation, and review skills.
  • Leadership in multidisciplinary project coordination, project management, and technical skills.
  • Experience negotiating with authorities and stakeholders.
  • Commercial skills, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree, preferably with chartered status or working towards it.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative, and flexible approach to work.
