Job summary

Mission Neko is seeking a Principal Engineer to build the AI engineering platform for regulated medical software, setting architecture and selecting agents and tools. You will own critical technical decisions across teams and work directly with our Chief Software Officer.

You will ship a golden path for AI-assisted engineering, provide observable guardrails, and ensure audit trails and compliance evidence are created by the pipeline. Office locations include London, New York or Stockholm.

Qualifications

• Designed and built platforms or core infrastructure that other engineers rely on daily.
• Deep backend and distributed systems experience in production environments.
• AI-first engineering approach: using agents to automate work and improve speed/quality.

Responsibilities

• Define the target architecture for the AI engineering platform and make build/adopt decisions.
• Ship a golden path for AI-enhanced engineering with guardrails and shared tooling.
• Deploy agents to real engineering tasks end-to-end, including migrations and automated reviews.
• Ensure sandboxed agent execution with clear audit trails and separation from sensitive data.
