Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Principal AI Engineer to own the end-to-end improvement loop of Context Engine in production. You will ship code, designs and telemetry to guide product decisions and set the technical bar for agentic behavior.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience with AI-driven products.
Experience shipping production AI systems and handling public APIs.
Strong backend and data-model evolution without breaking contracts.
Proficient in Python or TypeScript and telemetry design.

Responsibilities

Own the production improvement loop for Context Engine, including telemetry and evaluation.
Define safe iteration on agents and prompts, with versioning and rollout.
Design telemetry for data-informed decisions, including agent traces and tool calls.
Partner with data science on evaluation strategy with golden datasets and latency.
Raise the bar through design reviews, mentoring, and technical proposals.
