Job summary

Randstad Education Leeds is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant to support a Wakefield primary school in delivering literacy and math interventions. You’ll help teachers prepare resources, supervise activities, and provide targeted 1:1 support to pupils to raise attainment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in educational, care, or voluntary settings.
• GCSE English and Maths (C/4 or above).
• Warm, flexible and proactive approach to supporting classroom dynamics.
• An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness for one).
• Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with setting up resources, activities, and seasonal displays.
• Lead tailored phonics, reading, and early maths intervention groups to raise pupil attainment.
• Provide targeted 1:1 assistance to pupils who need additional support during core subjects.
• Supervise children during morning arrival, lunchtime breaks, and educational visits.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive environment by modeling respectful, active learning behaviors.
