Job summary

GSL Education is recruiting Level 2 Teaching Assistants for primary schools in Hyde, Tameside, with day-to-day, long-term and permanent opportunities available now.

You will support individuals and groups to access learning, deliver phonics and maths interventions, foster positive relationships, and follow safeguarding procedures. A fully enhanced DBS and two professional references from the last two years are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (or working towards) for Teaching Assistants, or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Experience supporting children in a school, nursery or similar setting (EYFS, KS1 or KS2).
• Calm, patient and flexible approach.
• Good communication skills with pupils, staff and parents.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths desirable).
• Willingness to undertake relevant training, including SEND and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals and small groups of pupils to access learning, under the direction of the class teacher.
• Provide support for pupils on the SEN register, including those with SEND support plans or EHCPs.
• Deliver phonics, reading, writing and maths interventions as directed by the class teacher.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and be a calm, consistent role model.
• Support pupils' behaviour, confidence and personal, social and emotional development.
• Attend to pupils' personal and pastoral needs, including minor first aid where trained.
• Help prepare classroom resources and displays.
• Follow school safeguarding procedures at all times.
