Job summary

Randstad in St Albans is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant for a long-term role starting September 2026. You will support pupils across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, aiding reading, writing, and maths skills while maintaining a positive learning environment.

The role requires experience with children, Level 2/3 TA qualifications, and an Enhanced DBS. It offers an autumn placement in a high-performing school with CPD opportunities and dedicated consultancy support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in primary schools, nurseries, or youth settings.
• Strong verbal communication, flexibility, patience, and understanding of early reading, writing and maths.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with class teachers to prepare materials and maintain a structured learning space.
• Guide small group activities focused on early reading, literacy, and core maths skills.
• Provide 1:1 pupil mentoring and support for pupils with SEND.
• Implement positive behaviour techniques to keep pupils calm and engaged.
• Help create interactive display boards and prepare daily lesson resources.
• Ensure safeguarding and welfare during classroom, assemblies, and breaks.
