Job summary

Reeson Education is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join a specialist autism school in St Albans for a September start. You will support pupils aged 4 to 16 with autism, speech, language and communication needs, developmental delay and social development difficulties.

As part of a small team of 3–5 TAs under an experienced SEN teacher, you will help with learning, communication development and fostering independence in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with special needs.
  • Understanding of autism or additional needs.
  • Previous work as a teaching assistant in a primary or special needs school.
  • Good basic knowledge of the EYFS and/or primary curriculum.
  • Positive, energetic attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Caring, patient and enthusiastic.
  • Desire to positively impact children’s lives.
  • Experience undertaking personal care tasks or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of PECS and Makaton is advantageous.

Teaching Assistant - St. Albans

Full‑Time Role | September Start | Specialist Autism School

This is an exciting opportunity to support children aged 4 to 16 years with autism, speech, language and communication needs, developmental delay and social development difficulties. You will become part of a supportive team helping pupils achieve their full potential.

About the School

St. Albans specialist school offers newly renovated facilities, including an extensive forest area, outdoor play park, large playground, therapy rooms, modern classrooms and excellent parking. Classes are 7‑10 students with learning needs, and you will be part of a team of 3‑5 teaching assistants working under an experienced SEN teacher.

Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation and independence.
