Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd. is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for a Lambeth, South London setting, starting ASAP. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN/SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs, helping with communication and daily routines.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, SENCOs and specialists, using visual timetables and strategies such as PECS or Makaton where appropriate. Full-time, Monday to Friday, with pay 110–125 per day.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex learning needs.
• Confident providing 1:1 support and responding calmly to challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC or visual communication strategies would be advantageous.
• Understanding of EHCPs, individual learning targets and SEND interventions.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
• Proactive, adaptable and committed to supporting pupils' individual development.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN/SEND.
• Support children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning difficulties.
• Support speech, language and communication development using appropriate strategies.
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
• Use visual timetables, structured routines and alternative communication methods where appropriate.
• Support pupils with sensory processing difficulties and transitions throughout the school day.
• Deliver targeted learning and SEND interventions under teacher guidance.
• Monitor progress and communicate effectively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.

You will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to provide tailored support, helping pupils build confidence, develop independence and access learning in a safe, structured and inclusive environment.
