Salary: 105 - 120 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing

Monarch Education are proud to be working with a in Birmingham providing tailored education for Primary aged students who have social, emotional, or mental health challenges that impact their learning and behaviour.

As a Support Assistant, your role will be pivotal in supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development. You will work closely with teachers and the wider team to implement tailored interventions, manage challenging behaviour, and promote a positive learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and motivated. You will ideally have great experience in working with SEMH students in either a 1 - 1 or group setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Primary students with SEMH needs in accessing the curriculum through tailored activities and interventions.
  • Building trusting relationships with students to promote engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation.
  • Assisting the Teacher with behaviour management using trauma-informed and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students access learning and develop independence.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient with a genuine desire to support vulnerable learners.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive behaviour management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Adaptable and proactive, capable of managing challenging situations calmly and safely.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the emotional well-being of students.
