Job description

Primary Teaching Assistant

Looking to gain hands-on experience in a primary classroom before moving into teaching or educational psychology?

*** Primary Teaching Assistant
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** £81 – £102 per day
*** 2-Form Entry Primary School, Wolverhampton
*** General TA duties through the KS2 national curriculum

The Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll support class teachers in delivering the KS2 curriculum—helping pupils stay engaged, reinforcing key concepts, and encouraging positive behaviour. You’ll assist with group activities, prepare learning resources, and offer 1:1 help to those who need extra support. It’s a varied, full-on role that gives you a real insight into the classroom.

The Candidate
You’re a graduate who enjoys working with children and wants to make a difference. You’ll need to be organised, reliable, and confident supporting pupils aged 7 to 11. No formal teaching experience is needed, but any prior work with young people—especially in schools—will stand out. This role is ideal if you’re thinking of training to teach in the future.

The School
This 2-form entry primary in Wolverhampton has a strong reputation for inclusion and progress. Staff are collaborative and experienced in supporting graduates who are new to the classroom. With strong mentoring in place and access to CPD, it’s a great setting to develop your skills.
