Make a Difference in the Classroom
Are you passionate about supporting young learners and helping them thrive in a primary school environment? GSL Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and caring Primary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the academic and social development of pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to ensure pupils remain engaged and make progress.
Assist the class teacher in delivering fun, engaging, and differentiated lessons.
Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.
Help foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and participation in classroom activities.
Supervise children during playtimes, lunchtimes, and other school-based activities.
Requirements:
Experience working with primary-aged children (e.g., in schools, tutoring, or childcare settings).
A good understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behaviour management techniques is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
