Job summary

Smart Education is seeking a passionate Primary Teacher for flexible teaching roles in Burton-on-Trent. You can choose long-term, short-term or day-to-day supply across EYFS/KS1/KS2. QTS is essential and DBS checks are required; 6 months UK classroom experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • At least 6 months UK classroom teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Confidence teaching within EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching for a range of abilities and additional needs.
  • Positive, adaptable and professional approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to provide references covering your most recent 24 months.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or willingness to have one processed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Teach across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 depending on experience.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Assess, monitor and support pupil progress.
  • Maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Cover lessons using existing plans and routines as needed.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and school staff.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Role

As a Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging, inclusive and positive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential. Your duties may include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the Primary National Curriculum
  • Teaching across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 depending on your experience
  • Adapting and differentiating lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Assessing, monitoring and supporting pupil progress
  • Maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour
  • Supporting pupils academic, social and emotional development
  • Following existing lesson plans and classroom routines when providing short-term cover
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other school staff
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Upholding school safeguarding procedures at all times
Skills and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • At least 6 months UK classroom teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
