Job description

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

A local Stockport primary school is looking for a specialist teaching assistant to support SEN students on a full-time basis within their mainstream setting. The school requires an educator with previous experience working with SEN children, who will be able to tailor the learning to each child’s individual needs and also support them in regulating and managing behaviour. They are seeking a candidate who has a passion for inclusive learning and desire to contribute to their nurturing environment, supporting children to achieve their full potential.

Role Description

- Working within mainstream classrooms with SEN students.

- Leading 1 to 1’s or small groups with children who cannot access the main curriculum.

- Delivering specialist learning tailored to each child’s needs.

- Helping with behaviour management and regulation.

- Ensuring the well-being and safeguarding of all children in their care.

Role Requirements

- Essential:

  • Previous experience working with SEN children in either an education or childcare capacity.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication skills with good command of English.
  • A passion for supporting children in their learning journey.
  • Available to work full-time.

- Desirable:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • A SEN qualification.

Applicants who have lived outside the UK for 3 months or more in the past 5 years will be required to provide an overseas criminal clearance check.

An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service is mandatory for this role. If you do not currently have one, you will need to apply through Teaching Personnel as part of the vetting process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
