Job Title: Teacher of Key Stage 1 with some Key Stage 2 commitments.

Salary: £28,000.00 per annum

Hours: 8.30 am to 4.00 pm – Monday to Friday - Fulltime

Holidays: 14 weeks paid holiday per annum.

Start Date: September 2022

Overstone Park Independent School is recruiting a qualified and experienced primary school teacher to join our caring team. We are a school that prioritizes the needs of our pupils. The applicant must be caring, passionate, innovative, and enthusiastic about supporting children of all abilities, including those with additional needs.

Our goal is to enable pupils to reach their full potential socially, academically, and emotionally.

Job Purpose:

To teach all subjects of the national curriculum and extracurricular activities, fulfilling the professional duties of a teacher as required, in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the principal.

Duties:

  • Teach pupils of all abilities, including those with additional needs, by planning lessons that promote progression through clear objectives, differentiated tasks, and appropriate assessments.
  • Set challenging and engaging tasks, with high expectations for all pupils.
  • Develop and use provision maps for pupils with additional needs and lead annual EHCP reviews.
  • Work with gifted pupils and recognize individual talents through innovative teaching methods.
  • Maintain structured lessons that motivate and challenge students, utilizing effective assessment strategies to ensure curriculum coverage.
  • Manage classroom discipline in line with school procedures, fostering good behavior, punctuality, and homework standards.
  • Employ a variety of teaching methods, including effective questioning, resource selection, and developing study skills.
  • The applicant must have good IT skills.
  • Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate relevant knowledge, skills, and understanding.
  • Accept constructive feedback to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Use available resources to support individual learning needs, especially in literacy and numeracy.
  • Encourage independent thinking, self-control, and perseverance among pupils.
  • Develop rapport with pupils, using humor and clear boundaries, and demonstrate patience and calmness, especially with pupils with additional needs.
  • Be prepared to handle physical challenges, including running and physical intervention if necessary.
  • Teach a small class, some of whom have additional needs, using resources effectively to facilitate understanding and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with mentors and support staff to support pupils' development.
  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with the UK curriculum, and participate in statutory and online CPD training.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting:

  • Assess and improve learning objectives and teaching strategies based on pupil progress.
  • Mark work, set targets, and systematically record progress to inform planning.
  • Prepare reports for parents and contribute to school events promoting pupils and the school.

Curriculum Development:

  • Take responsibility for primary subjects and contribute to school development plans.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and adapt to evolving responsibilities as needed.
