Job summary

Teaching Personnel is currently supporting a welcoming primary school in Preston to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant from October 2026. The role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who display challenging behaviour, working with the SEN team to help regulate emotions and engagement.

You will collaborate with teaching staff, contribute to behaviour plans, and build trusting relationships with pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support throughout the school day.
• Use de-escalation strategies and proactive behaviour management.
• Support pupils emotionally and academically to improve engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
• Contribute to behaviour plans and pupil progress reviews.
