Job summary

Bridgeview Special School seeks a Grade 6 Personal Development Mentor to support primary pupils with social, emotional, behavioural, speech and communication needs. You will deliver interventions around personal safety, hygiene and friendships, guiding children to positive behaviours and resilience.

The role operates 32.5 hours per week during term time plus 5 training days, with a starting salary £23,157–£25,133 (£30,515–£33,119 FTE). Visits are welcome and DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children across the primary age range.
• Experience of working with vulnerable children and supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, speech, language & communication needs.
• A good understanding of Behaviour Management methods including the role of the facilitator.
• A secure knowledge of emotional and social issues which may impact on a child’s learning.
• Emotional resilience when working in a range of challenging situations, including challenging behaviours and attitudes to the use of authority and maintain discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead role to address the social, emotional and mental health needs of the pupils through a delivery of interventions around personal safety, hygiene and friendships.
