Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming Primary School in Derby on a long-term basis starting in September. You will support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, assisting the class teacher with inclusive lessons and delivering targeted interventions to boost literacy and numeracy.

The role requires recent experience with children, strong literacy/numeracy, and a patient, adaptable approach.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children or young people in a school or education setting.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare or equivalent is desirable.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous.
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to meet their individual learning needs.
• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Delivering targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum areas.
• Encouraging pupil participation, confidence and independence.
• Supporting children with SEND, where required.
• Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents to support positive outcomes.
