Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Billingham, with September 2026 start dates across primary schools in the area. We welcome experienced HLTA or Teaching Assistants ready to progress, with long-term and full-time opportunities and potential for permanent roles.

You will support teachers, lead learning activities, and provide high-quality pupil support across EYFS to KS2, including interventions and safeguarding.]

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant is essential.
  • HLTA experience or experience leading learning activities is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Primary curriculum.
  • Confident leading small groups and learning activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Lead lessons and learning activities when required.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress.
  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and the wider school team.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.
