Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting experienced HLTAs to work within friendly and supportive primary schools across Gateshead. This role is full-time, with September 2026 start, term-time only, and long-term placements may lead to permanent opportunities.

You'll cover classes, deliver planned lessons, and support pupils to reach learning goals across EYFS to KS2. Ideal candidates will have HLTA status or equivalent experience, strong classroom management, and the ability to lead a class when

Primary HLTA – Gateshead (Full-Time)

Protocol Education is recruiting experienced HLTAs to work within friendly and supportive primary schools across Gateshead.

This role would suit a confident Teaching Assistant who enjoys taking the lead, supporting teachers and helping pupils achieve their learning goals. You'll have the opportunity to work across different year groups and make a real contribution to the wider school community.

Role Details

• Full-time, Monday-Friday
• September 2026 start
• Term-time only
• Hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
• Long-term placements available
• Permanent opportunities may be available

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Covering classes and delivering planned lessons
• Leading targeted interventions in phonics, maths and English
• Supporting pupils with SEND
• Providing constructive feedback on pupil progress
