Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant – Camden

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Start ASAP or September 2025

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for working with children and considering a career in primary education?

Do you want to gain practical experience in a primary classroom before progressing into teacher training, educational psychology, or similar roles?

An exciting opportunity has become available for bright, enthusiastic graduates to join a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Camden as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time, term-time-only role that offers hands-on classroom experience supporting children across Early Years, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2.

Position Overview – Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:45pm (term-time only)
  • Start Date: Immediate or September 2025
  • Pay Rate: Up to £565 per week (based on experience and placement responsibilities)
  • Contract Type: Long-term, full academic year (potential for extension)

You’ll play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing, assisting the class teacher, and delivering tailored interventions to help children reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities - Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

  • Work closely with class teachers to support lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to boost literacy, numeracy, and phonics
  • Offer emotional and pastoral support to help pupils feel safe, engaged, and confident
  • Contribute to planning creative and engaging learning activities
  • Help track progress and provide feedback on pupil development

What We’re Looking For - Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

  • A 2:1 degree or higher in any discipline (Psychology, Education, English, or similar fields are especially relevant)
  • A genuine interest in working with young children in a primary school setting
  • Strong communication, empathy, and adaptability
  • Any experience with children (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, childcare, coaching, volunteering) is beneficial but not essential
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn on the job
