Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a specialist primary SEN school in Manchester. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping pupils access learning and develop independence in a nurturing environment.

The role requires experience with SEN/SEMH, a calm, patient approach, and the ability to collaborate with teachers and families. Immediate starts available, term-time hours, full-time across the school day.

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support students with personal care requirements where necessary.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Promote communication, social interaction, and independence skills.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a specialist primary SEN school in the Manchester area. The school caters for children with a wide range of moderate and complex special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, Global Developmental Delay, sensory processing needs, physical disabilities, medical needs, and challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils with emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support students with personal care requirements where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of needs such as ASC, ADHD, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
