Job description

Directorate: Policy, Strategy and Engagement

Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week.

Please state clearly on your application form which post(s) you wish to apply for.

Two areas within Rotherham Borough have each been allocated funding of £20m over the next ten years as part of the government’s Pride in Place Programme (PiPP). Rotherham (central) and Maltby will benefit from this bold, ten-year commitment which will empower communities and ensure decisions around investment in their neighbourhoods are resident-led.

This unique programme enables local residents to take the lead in shaping how investment is used in their area. Residents will be at the heart of decision-making championed by two independent Pride in Place Boards made up of local people, councillors and the local MP.

As the accountable body, Rotherham Borough Council will work alongside the Boards to ensure funding is used effectively to deliver better outcomes, including improved health and wellbeing, reduced inequalities and stronger local opportunities.

We are now looking for experienced, passionate and community‑focused individuals to support both Boards in turning their ambitions into reality.

Pride in Place Programme Manager

Salary: £47,181 - £50,269 (pay award pending)

As the key link between the Pride in Place Boards, central government and the Council, you will provide strategic advice and programme leadership to help realise the Boards’ long-term vision through the delivery of their Pride in Place plans.

This is not a traditional programme management role. Instead, you will operate within a resident-led governance model, where leadership comes from the community. Your role is to facilitate, enable and support this leadership, helping the Board to make informed decisions, build confidence and capability, and translate priorities into a deliverable programme.

At the same time, you will ensure the programme is well-managed, compliant and delivers meaningful outcomes, balancing community leadership with strong programme discipline and accountability.

Working alongside both Boards, and in conjunction with the Chairs, you will:-

  • Oversee the programme’s funding, governance and performance, ensuring compliance with Government requirements while delivering a diverse portfolio of projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain effective programme management systems, monitor financial and project performance, manage risks and report on outcomes and impact.
  • Build strong relationships and drive collaboration across with a wide range of stakeholders, including local councillors, MPs, council services, public sector partners, SYMCA, community organisations, local businesses and residents
  • Ensure local voices and priorities shape investment decisions and project delivery.
  • Champion effective communication and promotion of achievements
  • Manage the two Pride in Place Co-ordinators.

Pride in Place Co-ordinators x 2 posts

Salary: £35,412 - £38,220 (pay award pending)

Working closely with one of the Pride in Place Boards, you will play a pivotal role in turning an ambitious long-term vision into meaningful change for local communities.

Drawing on your understanding of community engagement techniques and taking a strengths-based approach, you will champion effective community involvement and support the co-production of initiatives and projects that create sustainable, resilient and cohesive communities.

Steered by the Board, and in conjunction with the Chair, you will:-

  • Ensure local voices and priorities shape investment decisions and project delivery
  • Support the Programme Manager in the coordination and delivery of the Pride in Place Plan
  • Build strong relationships and drive collaboration across with a wide range of stakeholders, including local councillors, MPs, council services, public sector partners, SYMCA, community organisations, local businesses and residents
  • Provide secretariat support to the Board enabling informed decision-making and effective governance
  • Produce high quality documentation including reports and briefings
  • Raise the profile of the Programme, the Board and the funded projects through clear and consistent communications, promotion and branding.
