Job summary

The Selection Partnership Ltd is seeking a skilled Press Toolmaker to join their manufacturing client in the United Kingdom. The role focuses on maintaining, repairing and improving press tools to ensure optimum production performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities include diagnosis of tooling issues, tool modifications, and proactive maintenance, with a hands-on approach in a busy toolroom environment.

Qualifications

• Time-served Toolmaker with apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of press tooling maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with conventional toolroom machinery including milling, grinding and turning machines.
• Good understanding of tooling materials and heat treatment processes.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to supporting production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and service a wide range of press tools (single stage and progression tooling).
• Carry out preventative maintenance activities in line with tool maintenance schedules.
• Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support production by responding to tool breakdowns and quality concerns.
• Conduct tool strip-downs, inspections and rebuilds.
• Manufacture and fit replacement tool components using conventional toolroom machinery.
• Assist with tool modifications and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
