Job summary

The Abbey in Abbey Hulton, Staffordshire is seeking a skilled Press Brake Setter to join the fabrication team on a long-term basis. You will set up and operate Amada CNC press brakes, interpret drawings, and ensure parts meet exact specs.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety are essential. 39 hours per week, with opportunities for higher pay if you have offline programming experience.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC press brake machines to drawing specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Amada CNC press brake machines.

• Inspect finished parts with measuring equipment to ensure specs.
• Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections.
• Handle stainless steel materials carefully to prevent damage.
• Maintain production schedules while upholding quality standards.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.

Job Description

A very well established manufacturing business is looking to recruit a skilled Press Brake Setter to join its fabrication team in a long term role, which will become permanent, subject to a successful probationary period. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating Amada press brake machines to manufacture high-quality components in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications. Some offline programming experience would be advantageous, and could command a higher hourly wage. The role requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and adherence to health and safety standards. Working hours are 39 per week, from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Thursday & 7:00am to 12:00pm on Friday.

Core Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Amada CNC press brake machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tooling and perform machine setups for various stainless steel components.
• Program and adjust machine parameters to achieve accurate bends and tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections.
• Handle stainless steel materials carefully to prevent damage and contamination.
• Work to production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and daily housekeeping.
• Report machine faults, quality issues, or material shortages to the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience operating CNC press brake machines (e.g., Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf, or similar).
• Experience working with mild & stainless steel fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of press brake tooling and bending techniques.
• Competent in using measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, angle gauges, and tape measures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
