Job description

Are you practical, proactive, and take pride in creating environments where children can thrive? Do you enjoy solving problems, working with your hands, and making a visible difference every day? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Premises Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring our schools are safe, secure, well‑maintained, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors. Working as part of our dedicated Estates Team, you will provide hands‑on support across maintenance, site security, health and safety, compliance, and facilities management, helping to create the best possible learning environment for our school communities.

What You'll Be Doing

You will take day‑to‑day responsibility for delivering high‑quality caretaking and site support services, ensuring that our buildings and grounds are maintained to an excellent standard and that essential building services operate effectively and efficiently.

Site Maintenance & Repairs

Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs across school buildings and grounds, ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Health & Safety Compliance

Support a culture of safety by undertaking regular checks and inspections, maintaining records, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.

Estate Management Support

Assist with the day‑to‑day management of the school premises, including contractor supervision, planned maintenance activities, and maintaining accurate site documentation.

Security & Site Operations

Help keep our schools secure through effective opening and closing procedures, monitoring site access, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a safe environment for all.

Energy & Sustainability

Monitor heating and building systems, identify opportunities for improved efficiency, and support the Trust's commitment to environmental sustainability.

Teamwork & Flexibility

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust, respond positively to changing priorities, and support a range of estate and facilities activities as required.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a caretaking role. It's an opportunity to become a valued member of a team that helps schools run smoothly and supports children to learn in safe, welcoming, and inspiring environments. Every repair completed, every safety check undertaken, and every problem solved contributes directly to the success of our pupils and staff.

Be the person who keeps everything running behind the scenes, so great learning can happen every day.

We offer a range of benefits, including access to professional development opportunities, a generous Local Government Pension Scheme, an Employee Assistance Programme and the opportunity to be part of a welcoming and caring school community.
