Job summary

PT Renewables is seeking a senior Preconstruction Manager to lead the tender process in a hybrid Bristol role, reporting to directors and shaping pricing and bid strategy. The role sits at the heart of how the company prices, pursues, and wins new work.

You will own all pre-construction activity, coordinating answers from enquiry to submission and ensuring a clear handover to delivery teams. A strong mechanical engineering background in M&E is essential.

Qualifications

• Solid mechanical engineering background with hands-on pre-construction or estimating experience in the M&E sector.
• Experience reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders to strict deadlines and coordinate bid responses.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full tender process from enquiry through to submission.
• Write and coordinate bid and PQQ responses.
• Assess the technical viability of opportunities and identify buildability or design concerns.
• Carry out and review mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications.
• Provide pricing input and ensure a smooth handover to the delivery team.
• Keep accurate records of tender activity, pipeline, and outcomes.
• Feed into go/no-go decisions with early-stage cost and programme input.
• Report regularly to the Director on bid status and commercial matters.

Preconstruction Manager | Bristol - hybrid | Permanent | Up to £65,000

Are you an experienced Construction/Pre-Construction Manager with a background in engineering?

Looking to join a rapidly-growing contractor in a truly autonomous role?

PT Renewables is supporting their long-standing client in the South West on their look for a Pre-Construction Manager.

This is a senior role, reporting directly to the directors, sitting at the heart of the business and playing a key part in how they price, pursue, and win new work.

The Role

You’ll take the lead on all pre-construction activity, owning the tender process end-to-end and working closely with the Director to assess, price, and submit bids across a varied project portfolio.

Day-to-day you'll be:

• Managing the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission
• Writing and coordinating bid and PQQ responses
• Assessing the technical viability of opportunities and identifying any buildability or design concerns
• Carrying out and reviewing mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Providing technical input into pricing and submission documents
• Ensuring a clear handover of pre-construction information to the delivery team
• Keeping an accurate record of tender activity, pipeline, and outcomes
• Feeding into go/no-go decisions with early-stage cost and programme input
• Reporting regularly to the Director on bid status and commercial matters

About you

You’ll need a solid mechanical engineering background and hands‑on experience in pre-construction or estimating within the M&E sector.

• Competent in mechanical take-offs with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs
• Experience reviewing and responding to contract documentation
• Able to manage multiple tenders at once and work to firm deadlines
