Job summary

Workshop Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Technician for a 3-month contract in the Chandlers Ford/Southampton area. You will assemble, fit and finish components in a busy workshop using hand and power tools, interpreting engineering drawings to tight tolerances.

Ideal candidates will have carpentry or joinery background, experience reading drawings, and a strong eye for precision and quality. The role emphasizes safety, tidy workspaces, and collaboration with a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit and finish components using hand and power tools
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings with correct dimensions
  • Carry out precision measurement and inspection using gauges and calipers
  • Identify and report non-conformances and support corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate workflow and meet targets
  • Handle materials, fixtures and jigs to avoid damage and ensure quality
  • Suggest practical improvements to methods, tooling or processes
