Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited in Newton Aycliffe is seeking a skilled Weld Technician to join our on-site manufacturing team. The role focuses on welding, fabrication and finishing of car bodies and sub-assemblies for rail vehicles, with autonomy and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience performing welding and fabrication.
• Valid MIG or TIG coded welding qualification.
• Strong health and safety understanding in welding environments.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG and/or TIG welding activities to procedures and specs.
• Fabricate and assemble car body components and sub-assemblies.
• Complete pre- and post-weld inspections and document welds.
• Perform weld repairs, finishing and distortion control.
• Support continuous improvement and training of others.
• Maintain health, safety, housekeeping and environment standards.
