Job summary

You will read engineering drawings, perform quality checks with measuring tools, maintain records, and follow health and safety procedures while delivering high-quality components. This is a permanent position based in Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Experience operating water jet, laser cutting or CNC machinery.
• Ability to read engineering drawings is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Comfort using measuring tools such as verniers and tape measures.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate water jet and laser cutting machines.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure products meet specification.
• Identify defects or production issues and report them promptly.
• Complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure materials are correctly identified and handled.
• Work to production schedules and meet daily output targets.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
